Digital Network Recorder

The NV Series is a line of network video recorders that can be used for mission critical recording and central monitoring applications. Available in 16,32, and 64 channel configurations, the NV Series can connect over the network to cameras attached to other Tempest DVRs and view, record, playback, and configure those cameras as if they were locally attached.

Traditional video surveillance systems have vulnerabilities that can compromise the integrity of recorded video. A malicious intruder can disarm the entire system by destroying or stealing the video recorder. A fire or local power loss could prevent the video recorder from functioning properly. A mechanical failure in the hard drive of the DVR could result in the loss of recordings. For some applications, fail-safe video recording is a requirement. The NV Series recorder protects against malicious tampering of the DVR, hard drive failures, and other potential risks by allowing the recording of redundant video over the network from a different room, building, or city.

The NV Series is also useful for central monitoring purposes, for users who want to setup a dedicated remote monitoring station that is reliable and high performance. Traditional remote monitoring relies on Windows software, which requires end users to setup and configure Windows PCs and install proprietary software. This is vulnerable to many different failure points due to incompatible hardware in the Windows PC, Windows configuration problems, virus and spyware problems, and inherent instability and performance issues with Windows. The NV Series is a dedicated Linux machine that requires no setup and is designed to connect to up to 64 different remote locations at the same time.
